Love Love

12 02 2010

Remember on Shrek when Shrek asks Donkey, “Really?” and Donkey replies, “Really Really!”? Well that has always stuck with me, and it extends to love. I sometimes tell Taylor that I ”love love” him – because saying it once isn’t enough. So, in honor of the DAY OF LOVE, but without grossing anyone out, here are a few things that I love love:

- Chocolate mousse. Seriously. I could eat it every night for dinner with a glass of red wine and be the world’s happiest (and fattest?) girl

- Dancing

- Red Dirt Country Music. Jason Boland, I die every time.

- Sitting around a fire, listening to a friend playing guitar, and drinking red wine. All 3 separately, or any combination of the 3.

- Reading trashy gossip magazines

- Red carnations. Snap dragons. Orchids.

- Puppy breath

- Hugs from the Harold (officially called the “Wheaten Welcome”, Wheatens innately know how to give you a hug)

- Road trips

- Sunsets in Oklahoma, Colorado, Arizona, California, and Mexico.

- Pedicures

- Perfectly cooked, lemony white fish with asparagus, orzo, and lots of red wine.

- The very few and far between nights where I can pretend I’m in college again.

- Dallas, and everything that comes with it.

- Hugs

- The smell of brewing coffee, especially Dunkin Donuts Hazelnut or Java Dave’s Snickerdelicious

- Pioneer Woman’s Drip Beef (the recipe that uses pepperoncinis). It could convert a vegetarian, no joke.

- Skeleton Keys

Oh there’s so much more.

What are some things that you love love?

COTW: It’s Still October!

21 10 2009

It’s still October, which means it’s still Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I’m posting yet another way you can help those who have been affected by and are battling breast cancer.

Today in my DailyCandy email, I read about Free Fingers by Nina Wexler. When Nina was fighting breast cancer, she knitted up a storm. Now she and her buddies continue to knit uber-cute, fingerless gloves that are sold at Blue & Cream. All th gloves are knitted by Nina’s friends, including students, widows and retirees. Even better? Free Fingers donates 100% of profits to breast cancer research.

It’s getting cold outside – maybe you should buy a pair of Free Fingers fingerless gloves, and warm your hands…and heart.

P.S. If you donate to any of the causes I feature, let me know! I’d love to feature you in a follow-up post. :)

Birthday Shout-out

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATE!!

Kate, one of the K(C)atherines, turns 23 today (aww, she’s such a young’un). In honor of her birthday, I plan to play a lot of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and some Postal Service while driving in my car. Also, I will be in Houston this weekend to celebrate Katherine’s (get it? more of the names) new apartment, where I plan to abuse the fact that Kate is still younger than me and still in school (albeit grad school, at SMU, so she ain’t gettin’ too crazy) by making her drink copious amounts of sangria and margaritas, and then we will all bemoan the days of when we were younger and could drink without getting hangovers.

So if you see Kate today, online (Twitter: @kwchap) or in person (Dallas-ites), wish her a wonderful birthday, and good luck in the binge drinking this weekend!

Love, Catie

Oh yes, the obligatory embarrassing picture birthday post:

Happy Birthday, Amelia!

28 05 2009

I would like to take a post to extend a warm wish for a wonderful, cupcake-filled, California-style, fun and fabulous HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my amazing friend, Amelia. Amelia is the mind behind AJ does DC, one of the best pseudo-political blogs where I go to read about many obscure topics about which I might not care otherwise. Here’s to you, Amelia, and to being, TWENTY-FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!

Love, Catie

It Could Have Been Me

12 05 2009

So for those of you who don’t know, Taylor and I met on the first day of law school at the University of Tulsa – August 11, 2006. We were both first-year law students, and quickly realized we were meant to be together. Long story short: Before the end of our first year, I had withdrawn from law school and Taylor and I were moving in together. Now, almost 3 years have passed, we are married, and last Saturday, May 9, 2009, Taylor graduated from law school. I realized while sitting in the stands that I could have been there, too, and I immediately realized how relieved I was to be a bystander, not a participant. I am so proud of you, Tay!!

Two of the world’s most beautiful men, in the same picture…If David Beckham and/or Johnny Depp had been in this picture too, my heart literally would have stopped…

Just a little piece of advice…

3 03 2009

Hey guys, if you want your girl to love you and keep making you dinner and bringing you a fresh drink and looking at you with those bedroom eyes that tell you everything she’s thinking but is too classy to say out loud…then take my word for it, and

NEVER. EVER. Tell her to “Relax” or “Calm down”…

You’ll thank me later.

If you ever had any doubts…

20 02 2009

Can I just say that this is the reason I read trashy gossip publications?

Here’s a preview (doesn’t he look like Hubband?):
