I’m Thankful For…

If you follow me on Twitter (@ladycatie) or on Facebook, you probably know that this month, I try to post something every day that I am grateful for. Well, I didn’t necessarily feel that I had enough time/space to list the many things I am thankful for, and what better place to do that than my blog? So here is my list. Leave me some comments on what you’re thankful for!

More Stylin’ Staches!

24 11 2009

Here are some great pictures I found when scouring “the internetz” for mustache pictures. Please enjoy the montage, donate to MOVEMBER, and send me pictures of your own mustaches (or those on the men in your life)!

See, I don't even need to see your face, just the 'stache.

If you're like my husband and can't have facial hair at work, carry your mustache on your key chain!

MORE MUSTACHE STYLES!

COTW: Donate for Movember

18 11 2009

Continuing with our No-Shave November/Mustache Movember theme for charities this month, I wanted to feature a friend’s blog, The Art of Manliness. Brett, the author of the blog, went to law school with my husband (and with me for a year). He and his wife started a blog on living frugally in law school, and he began a blog dedicated to the true meaning and style of being/living/acting/dressing like a “real man.”  He and his wife wrote a book of the same name, The Art of Manliness, and it was on Amazon’s top-seller list. Check out his website and share it with the men in your life, or the women who are looking for men. (Does that sound weird?)

Anyway, he is also an active participant in No-Shave November, and has a team that is going razorless to raise money for prostate cancer research. DONATE TO HIS TEAM HERE! They have raised over $4,000 but are trying to reach $10,000 by the end of the month. ALSO, I’m still waiting on confirmation, but I have asked that if they reach their goal, he will send me a picture of the whole team in their bearded glory. If they reach it, I’ll post the pic on here, along with a big thank-you to all of my lovely readers. So please, spread the word to donate to the Art of Manliness Movember Team!

Stylin’ ‘Staches

16 11 2009

So none of you have sent me pictures of your amazing facial hair growth for Mustache Movember, so the only thing happening must be that you just can’t decide how you want to grow your facial hair. So I found this picture to give all you guys a little inspiration and help in choosing your “stache style”.

mustache choices

My favorite is the horse shoe. Again, I LOVE posting pics of friends/readers/random people, so send pics of your mustachioed/goateed/soul patched face to catie.clark11@gmail.com

Thanks!

Happy November OKCityans!

2 11 2009

I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Halloween. As much as I love October, I might love November even more. A few reasons I love November are:

  • THANKSGIVING! I’m a bit of a foodie, and so of course I love any holiday that requires you to eat copious amounts of delicious homemade food. Also, I love that the Thanksgiving feast is followed by two of my other favorite things – football and sleeping.
  • Cool Weather – read: NOT cold weather. I love throwing on a sweater and jeans to run out the door, but not having to get all bundled up so my hands don’t freeze.
  • Mustache Movember: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but November is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. As much as I support Breast Cancer Awareness, nothing is as cool as an excuse for a man to grow out a mustache in charity’s name.

Now, here are a few things I love about OKLAHOMA CITY in November:

  • Chesapeake lights up Western Avenue: The energy company has once again decked out their trees and if you drive down Western Avenue between 55th and 63rd Street, you can’t miss  the glowing white lights. Also, if you drive (or WALK!) through the Chesapeake campus, you’ll see trees wrapped in every color of the rainbow!
  • Braum’s Ice Skating Rink: the ice skating rink opens downtown, usually the weekend after Thanksgiving. You can rent skates, buy hot chocolate, and skate with your loved ones in front of the Civic Center Music Hall.
  • BEDLAM! This year, the Sooners host the Cowboys in Norman the Saturday after Thanksgiving. If anyone has an extra couple of tickets they want to toss my way, I’m not going to stop you…
  • OKC Thunder! The season opened last Wednesday, but November brings our NBA team into full force. As of last night, they’re 2-1, a winning record!
  • Thanksgiving, Okie-style: I know it’s not in Oklahoma City, but my family and I go to Woodward, up in the panhandle, for our Thanksgiving celebration. Where else can you watch wild turkeys walk through your cousins’ backyard, while you dine on a delicious bird yourself? Or watch the neighbor skinning his deer from the morning hunt while you sit down for dinner?

What’s your favorite November activity in Oklahoma City?
