So, What Do You DO for a Living?

20 07 2009

If you follow me on Twitter, you may or may not see that I frequently RT from @U360. This is my alter ego, or my work Twitter. I have been meaning to tell you all for quite some time, if you ever wonder what I do all day that allows me to spend so much time on Facebook and Twitter – I work for a technology consulting firm, Straxis Technology.  I am in the sales and marketing department, and I spend a lot of time researching social networking trends, especially in how they pertain to colleges and universities, our main market sector. SO if you ever have any questions or technology needs, you can either ask me or read our company BLOG.

Happy Monday, everyone!

When I have $$

After the bar exam, when my wonderful Husband has a full-time job and we are no longer slaves to penny-pinching and student loans, THIS IS WHAT I AM TREATING MYSELF TO:

Kindle 2 = LOVE

Kindle 2 = LOVE

Katherine has the new Kindle and when she was here last weekend, I just got a glimpse of it because we were crazy busy. However, when I go to Houston in a couple of weeks, I plan to kidnap it and make sure it’s what I want – because far too often I buy something, only to return it a few days later because I expect it to completely revolutionize my world and it does NOT. But having talked to her at LENGTH about the Kindle 2, I believe it will be exactly what I need (especially since I just did my second bookshelf purge of 2009). ALSO, since the new iPhone and software are being released this month, AND since the iPhone features a Kindle app where you can sync them and pick up where you left off (so convenient not having to lug around 2 electronic devices at all times, especially since the Kindle won’t fit in a clutch or my pockets)…I plan on getting an iPhone to go with my Kindle. LOVE LOVE LOOOOVE!

Do you have a Kindle? THOUGHTS??

If you're like me…

Sometimes you need to take a break at work. In order to take up some time, I play Wordsplay. Similar to Boggle, you really have to play to understand, but my computer stays logged in and it’s fun to click into for a few minutes, work my brain in a different way, then go back to work. Just thought I would share!

This might be the only reason I would get an iPhone:

100 Free iPhone Apps that Will Make You Smarter

Other than that, I can’t have one. As my friend Jenn put it, “my fingers are incompatible with Apple.” The one time I seriously looked into purchasing an iPhone, I told the salesperson I had trouble with the keys since I had long (fake) nails at the time (and by long, I mean longer than my short, stubby natural nails that break easily, so JUST past my fingertips…so not long at all). I told him that every time I typed on Katherine’s iPhone, I would hit multiple keys. His remedy?

“Well, just cut off your nails and it will work just fine.”

Please guess my reaction to that (Hint: I still don’t have an iPhone. I no longer have nails, either.).
